Weekly Favorites 06/23/19 to 06/29/19

Me Myself and Cuisine Weekly FavoritesEvery Saturday, I go through Twitter with #foodblogger and find my favorite food related articles. These are this week's favorites!

Cooking with turkey has long been something I have wanted to try in an effort to cook more healthy options. It's just not something we use a lot. This recipe definitely sounds like something good we need to try out!
For close to a decade now, I have worked with the Houston American Diabetes Association on a bike ride called Tour de Cure. Finding foods that can help lower the risk of diabetes and other conditions, is huge!

We always buy packages of store bought naan bread to go with curry and a few others! Now we can make this at home!

What's more southern than Shrimp and Grits? Finding a good version on a menu anywhere is like a slice of heaven!

Weekly Favorites
These are this week's favorites!

You know what they say, an apple a day. Especially, if it is in a baked good!
When I'm not blogging or holding down a day job, I'm an advocate for diabetes. One of the best things to do in your diet, is to limit the amount of sugar you consume.

Until recently, I was never a huge fan of deviled eggs. I don't know why, but I'm suddenly able to appreciate this party staple.

Orange Chicken I might pass on, but Orange Duck is something else entirely. Duck isn't something you see on a menu as often as it's flightless counterpart. The citrus flavors go so well with duck.

Fresh roasted peanuts have always been something that I've wanted to try. The canned peanuts from the store always seem almost stale.

A New Collaboration

The Healthy Home Cookbook
The Healthy Home Cookbook
For the last 9 or 10 years, I've worked with the Houston area American Diabetes Association on a charity bicycling event called the Tour de Cure. Specifically, this event is to raise awareness for diabetes and to also raise money for Houston area diabetes advocacy and research. These programs are truly life changing for countless people in our area.

Recently, I was given a copy of The Healthy Home Cookbook, by Barbara Seelig-Brown, from my contact at the Houston American Diabetes Association office. I can't wait to try out a few of these recipes and share them with you!
